From starting his public service career at 18 with the city of Colorado Springs to becoming the deputy manager of recreation in Denver, Clay Shuck has worn many hats. With a solid educational background in business management and public administration, he now leads Broomfield's Parks and Recreation department, managing a $23 million budget and 112.78 employees. His family's dedication to public service is equally impressive, with his wife and two sons involved in education, parks and recreation, and law enforcement.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Clay's department played a pivotal role in reopening facilities and highlighting the importance of parks and recreation for mental health. His commitment to community engagement shines through in the various programs offered, including Meals on Wheels and congregate meals for seniors, fostering social connections and well-being.
Clay's leadership extends to overseeing the Office of Emergency Preparedness, showcasing the vital intersection between parks, recreation, and emergency management. His dedication to public service is evident in his extensive career and the positive impact he has had on his community.
