The Club celebrated Bob Sauer’s 95th birthday. Wow Bob! Congrats!
Gary Francis presented a symbolic check for $5000 to Kathy Escobar and Steve Palmer of The Refuge, representing a donation to The Refuge from the Broomfield Rotary Charitable Foundation. The Refuge serves as a navigation hub for a healing community in and around Broomfield. It grew out of 12-step recovery programs. The Refuge has 14 programs, the largest of which is The Refuge Café. The Refuge Café provides free meals, showers, personal items and on-site community partners to help with housing, employment, and basic needs, among other things.
Brian Forman shared his excitement about being the Club President during the coming Rotary year, outlining his priorities for his term. In short, Brian wants to increase membership, improve retention of existing members and increase services to and partnerships with the community. He also emphasized that he wants us to have fun in the process. He discussed possible one-on-one mentorship of new members, business sponsorships of the club and encouraging Rotarians to do business with other Rotarians. He also asked all of us to bring guests to club meetings and events. His enthusiasm was contagious and we look forward to the coming year.
