Melissa Tumblin, Founder and Executive Director of the Ear Community Organization, shared about her passion behind founding a nonprofit after her youngest daughter, Ally, was born with microtia and aural atresia (when someone is born without ears and has no ear canals, resulting in hearing loss). She doesn’t want another family to ever feel alone with a child born with microtia and atresia.

Ear Community has paved the way for medical professionals and families to learn about their options for this rare cause - while creating a community that provides a sense of belongingness and acceptance for these children and adults and their families. Ear Community has accomplished many things, including the introduction of Ally's Act, H.R. 2439/S. This Federal legislation will help individuals get insurance coverage for hearing devices.

Since 2010, Ear Community has donated over 150 bone anchored hearing devices to those in need.

Melissa is a Colorado native. She and her husband, Brent, have lived in Broomfield for the past 20 years with their two daughters, Hailey and Ally.
