At our Club meeting on January 22, 2026, Gina Fontain of Cereset provided a fascinating presentation on Cereset’s method of helping people reset their brains. Cerest was founded by Lee Gerdes. One night, while working at a homeless shelter, Mr. Gerdes took out the trash as part of his job. He was attacked by a gang of youths and beaten over the head with a baseball bat. He sustained traumatic brain injuries as a result. With a background in computer science, he tried find a solution for his chronic brain fog, insomnia and temper issues. As a result of a lot of prayer and experimentation, he came up with the methods that Cereset now uses to help people overcome similar symptoms.
Ms. Fontain explained that often, traumatic experiences cause our brains to get out of synch, becoming “stuck on the brake” or “stuck on the gas” so to speak. This can prevent people from getting a full and productive night’s sleep. Lack of sleep in turn can prevent the glymphatic system, which detoxifies the brain while we sleep, from doing its job. Over time, chronic lack of effective brain detoxification can result in burnout, brain fog and other tangible negative impacts.
The SET part of Cereset is an acronym. The first step in the process is to stabilize the brain. Cereset does this by recording brain wave activity in an initial session and establishing sound tones that reflect a subject’s natural brain frequency or frequencies. In subsequent sessions, Cereset plays the sound back while the person listens. Over time, usually after around six sessions, the played back sound causes the person’s brain wave activity to stabilize around its natural pitch. The brain effectively calms itself. This improves sleep and expands glymphatic activity. Cereset provides its clients with a lot of data about changes in brain measurements during the process. Clients have reported that the process calms the brain, enabling them to get much better sleep consistently, and ultimately gets them back on track. Particularly for people who have had serious sleep problems over an extended period of time, the results have been transformative.
