It’s that time again! Time to collect flowering plants at the conclusion of the Colorado Garden & Home Show at the Colorado Convention Center on Sunday, February 12th and distribute them the next morning, Monday, February 13th.

Colorado Garden & Home Show Interesting in signing up to help collect the flowers?
On Sunday, February 12th you will be admitted FREE, along with your family and friends, to the Garden & Home Show where you can spend the afternoon enjoying the show. Then, at about 6:00 pm we’ll all be called together and given instructions on how to collect and box the flowering plants that are suitable for distribution the next morning. If you’d like to car-pool to the show we’ll talk about it the Club meeting just before the event. It is a good idea to bring a pair of gloves if you don’t want to get your hands dirty.

Interesting in signing up to help with distributing the flowers?
Monday February 13th, we will meet at McDonald’s at 1250 East 1st Avenue, Broomfield (near 120th and Sheridan) at 8:15 to distribute the plants to Maryel Manor, Salvation Army’s Silver Crest, Broomfield Skilled Nursing Center, the Broomfield Senior Center and Meals-on-Wheels. It will take less than 2 hours to distribute the flowers. Remember, each flowering plant delivered brings a big smile to the face of the recipient! And those smiles are wonderful!!!

Please email Gerry to let him know if you would like to help!

On Saturday, December 10th, 2016 Broomfield Rotary club members distributed 37 bikes and 3 tricycles to kids from Broomfield and Adams Counties at the annual CASA Holiday Party. The Party was held at the Ranch country Club in Westminster from 10 to noon. CASA provided the tricycles for the youngest of the kids. Good Samaritan Hospital / Exempla provided a trauma nurse and fitted helmets for all the bike recipients.

Broomfield Rotary Club members repaired and cleaned bikes during the previous month in preparation for this event. Broomfield Rotary members prepared over 50 bikes for the event!! We have 30 plus bikes left in the storage facility that will be given away to children in the Broomfield community in the future.

CASA, Good Samaritan Hospital / Exempla and Broomfield Rotary Club worked together to make this holiday season a little brighter for 40 children who were seeking bicycles / tricycles and now have one to call their own.

CASACASA has requested about 35 bikes for kids for their Christmas Party this year. I am asking that club members sign up for this weekend work sessions to work on bikes. I have scheduled 10 to noon this Saturday to clean and repair bikes. Also the same time Sunday if needed.

We have previously prepared some of the bikes but with additional requests received today we need to do some more work.

The bikes are in Bob Davis’s garage at 14531 Yosemite St, Brighton. I will be attending this weeks meeting with sign up sheets for the work sessions. You can sign up at the meeting or reply to me by email.

The CASA Christmas party is Dec 10 in the morning and we will need workers to haul, set up, and distribute the bikes at that time too. Should be a roughly 9 AM to 12 PM schedule.

See you at the meeting or reply.

Regards,
Bob Edmondson

Broomfield Rotary Club gives 256 flowering plants to Broomfield Seniors as part of Rotary’s Flower Power program.

At the conclusion of the Colorado Garden and Home show on Sunday many Denver area Rotary Clubs came together and with the help of several Boy Scout Troops, gathered all of the flowering plants that were in good shape. The purpose of this effort was to place these flowers in the hands of seniors throughout the greater Denver area. This year 6250 flowers were gathered and distributed 2 days after Valentine’s Day…creating 6250 huge, happy smiles.

In Broomfield, the Rotary Club distributed 256 plants to the residents of Maryel Manor, Salvation Army’s Silver Crest, the Broomfield Skilled Nursing Facility, the Broomfield Senior Center, and Meals-on-Wheels.

Broomfield Rotary hosted the 2015 Police and Fire Golf Tournament at the Omni Golf Course on May 4, 2015.

Although the day started with a downpour…..by check in time it was a drizzle…..and by tie-off time the rain had stopped making for another successful golf tournament to benefit the Police and Fire Emergency Fund.

The pictures of the participating foursomes can be viewed below.
