Captain Miguel Morales
This past Thursday, August 15, 2024 Captain Miguel Morales gave an informative overview about the history of the Salvation Army and its origins in Victorian England. The lack of proper housing, clean air, and nutrition meant that many people were destitute. William Booth saw this problem and formed this international organization. In Broomfield, Captain Miguel's plans are to distribute 500 school backpacks to needy Broomfield kids in the next school year as well as develop a community garden with the help of Broomfield FISH.

Taking home the pot this quarter is Imagination Library, nominated by Michael Gordon. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to every child from birth to age five through funding shared by Dolly Parton, the State of Colorado, and the Broomfield Rotary Club. From birth until a child's 5th birthday, children enrolled in the program receive a new, age-appropriate book mailed to their home every month. By the time these children enter kindergarten, they have their own library of books, are more prepared to enter school, and excited about reading. All families in Broomfield with children birth to age five are eligible to enroll.
